Hello everyone, and welcome to your July Residential Landscape Update from Rockaway Sustainable Landscaping. Summer is in full swing, and while the heat and humidity can be tough on landscapes, our team is working hard to keep your property looking its best. Here’s what you can expect this month.
Agronomics
Our Agronomics Team is continuing applications to protect your lawn from chinch bugs while providing nitrogen and essential micronutrients to promote healthy turf and stronger root systems. We’ll also spot-treat weeds and inspect shrubs for insects and disease. Later this month, we’ll begin our delayed granular fertilizer applications to help lawns recover from winter damage and recent drought stress. With regular rainfall and proper irrigation, most lawns should continue to green up and improve. If you have areas that need more than time to recover, we’re happy to provide a sod replacement estimate.
Irrigation
Keeping your irrigation system running efficiently is especially important this time of year. Our team continues inspecting systems for leaks, coverage issues, and programming adjustments. We remain under Phase III drought restrictions, so established landscapes are limited to one day of watering per week. When possible, we recommend cycle-and-soak programming to get the most out of every watering day. Newly installed landscapes may qualify for temporary establishment watering schedules.
Landscape Maintenance
July brings Florida’s hottest temperatures, afternoon thunderstorms, mosquitoes, and yellow flies, but our crews remain focused on keeping your landscape healthy and attractive. Regular mowing, edging, trimming, weed control, shrub care, and cleanup continue throughout the month. Many properties have also recently completed a hedge pruning cycle and received a Plant Growth Regulator application, helping shrubs maintain a fuller, healthier appearance while reducing the need for frequent pruning.
Landscape Enhancements
Mid-summer is a great time to refresh your landscape. Whether you’re considering fresh mulch, palm pruning, sod replacement, drainage improvements, irrigation upgrades, landscape lighting, or new plantings, our team is ready to help. If you’ve been thinking about improving your outdoor space, we’d love to discuss your project.
